This is Sarah. She is made with a vintage, silver plated tomato server, parts of a vintage shoe stretcher, vintage hinges, an Avon gold wreath earring and a metal postage stamp with a heart that looks like it's beating if you tilt your head back and forth. Sarah is very comfortable on a Py O My cookie sheet used for advertising Py O My pastry mix. The cookie sheet was used at groceries stores to advertise a free pan with purchase of the pastry mix. You can see the embossed circle with the cents sign where the grocery store was to put the price of the pie mix. Next to Sarah is an old biscuit cutter. To me, Sarah represents women who have big hearts! They love to nurture others, but never forget to nurture themselves. They know when it's time to let go and let others find their own way. But they are always there to return to, like a warm kitchen on a cold day.

This is June. She is made with a vintage rhinestone pin, vintage post WW2 Japanese hair clips and a sterling silver bezel for her head and halo. June is very comfortable on a round cookie plate from a vintage children's cooking set. To me, June is a symbol of the incredibly smart, incredibly gorgeous woman. Her intelligance is as beautiful as her looks and it forms a glow around her that some might mistake for shallowness. But this woman is deep and smart and uses her talents to help others.

My sister and I came up with the idea of Piece Angels. Piece Angels are made from, well, just about anything that has everything to do with women ~ the tools and accoutrements that have kept women connected throughout cultures and centuries. There are the obvious things such as cooking utensils and hair clips and the not so obvious things like the hinges we women sometimes become to keep things together and to allow doors to open and close.
