This is Lydia. Her body is a new old button. It was made in the 30's but never even got the back toggle attached , so was never used. The skirt, (a very slim skirt, Lydia is a very modern angel) is the handle of an old silver plated spoon. Her wings are vintage rhinestone earrings. Her pretty innocent face is from an old necklace of mine from about 25 years ago - back when I was innocent (HA). She is sitting on a child's cookie sheet that has a picture of a child rolling out dough stamped on it with the words "Aluminum Cooky Pan'. There are vintage crystals in many colors and shapes to embellish the cookie sheet. Lydia represents women who seem to be a walking contradiction. Modern and homespun, sexy and childlike, flashy and innocent. And they do it with such flair and finesse that everyone, men and women alike, absolutely adore them! The piece is 3 x 4 inches.

This is Suzanne. Her body and legs are a shaply vintage ice tong, her bodace is the centerpiece of a vintage rhinestone necklace. The wings are manicure tools with a beautiful rhinestone design encrusted in the bakelite handles. An old pin from the 60's is used for her head and there are new swarovski rhinestones above it for a halo. Her skirt is a silver plated cake server. Suzanne reaches out like Da Vinci's "Woman" (if he had done one) on a 12 inch pewter charger plate. Adorning the charger are vintage rhinestones in different shapes and colors. Also a vintage berry huller and a vintage, silver pin of a sprig of flowers. Suzanne represents a free spirit. She loves flowers and nature and can't be burdened with a long flowing dress and big floppy wings. She needs to run through the woods and feel her toes in the mud and grass. She loves bright colors, eating fruit from the tree and doing whatever she wants. But she is always there reach out and help someone in need.

My sister and I came up with the idea of Piece Angels. Piece Angels are made from, well, just about anything that has everything to do with women ~ the tools and accoutrements that have kept women connected throughout cultures and centuries. There are the obvious things such as cooking utensils and hair clips and the not so obvious things like the hinges we women sometimes become to keep things together and to allow doors to open and close.
